Oregon Coast Retreat

I have a strong belief that food can become a vehicle between passionate food purveyors, importers, makers, and artisans that can foster a spirit of craftsmanship and conviviality within the community. A well-prepared meal has the power to bring individuals, both strangers and friends alike, close together at the dinner table. It has the ability to connect, build organizations, raise money, develop homes, and navigate bureaucracies, if but for a moment; because it's not what happens in the kitchen, but what happens at the dinner table that truly matters.
When I think of food, I think of family and friends, of its ability to connect one another. I believe in sourcing out local ingredients, and being committed to sustainable resources that celebrates the art of small batch, craft cookery. I believe in foraging, home cooked meals made from scratch, and dishes that truly encapsulate the flavors of the seasons, celebrating the bounty and abundance of the land.

Here on this blog, I have included a few videos, as well as various restaurants, that showcase this belief of food, of home cookery, craft, and gathering. Food is powerful. It brings those of us together, despite our differences, with one thing in common: the love of food, of tradition, of family.

This video, among many, showcases the Oregon Coast, friends, and feast. It provides an insight on what it truly means to prepare food through forgotten techniques, and of gathering with friends and family at the dinner table. Enjoy.
